Client Synopsis:

Full Scale Solutions is currently recruiting for the following position located in Raleigh-Durham, NC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking to hire a savvy Senior Director of Business Development to lead the external search and evaluation efforts in support of the human therapeutics business units of the company. This incumbent must be well versed in evaluating and identifying technologies that will complement this rapidly growing business.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the licensing due diligence efforts, market research, business analytics, and will manage the partnering efforts and external communications to support business and technical development.
  • Seek out and lead the evaluation of technologies that may support ongoing or potential cell and gene therapy programs and applications.
  • Support business development and integration efforts related to external technology.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking on external technologies under consideration.
  • Review and validate scientific data on in licensing and partnering opportunities.
  • Assess strengths and potential issues of prospective partnerships to ensure alignment with corporate priorities.
  • Evaluate intellectual property suite and Freedom to Operate of prospective partners.
  • Develop and present in licensing or partnering business cases to management.
  • Manage certain partnering efforts which will include licensing and negotiation.
  • Communicate the company, technology and products to potential collaborators and partners in both one-to-one and large group situations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and advanced degree (MS, MBA, or Ph.D.) or equivalent with a minimum of ten years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven due diligence experience.
  • Demonstrated technology search and evaluation experience.
  • Product development and commercial evaluation experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills both orally and written with comfort speaking in front of individuals and groups including senior management.
  • Astute familiarity collaborating within a business environment and navigating an entrepreneurial culture.
  • Strong ability to relate effectively across functional areas.
  • Ability to coordinate, interact with, and build alignment among multiple parties/functions/groups.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks and priorities while working in a rapidly developing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams with strong organization and planning skill.
